Preview of Capital One DevExchange Hackathon

Tomorrow marks the first Capital One DevExchange Hackathon, bringing together many of the area’s brightest minds in fintech development, product management, UX and design.

As the financial technology industry has transformed in recent years, the development of new APIs and services has accelerated. Capital One’s DevExchange program acts as a central resource for developers with insights from thought leaders and industry events such as this hackathon designed to bring the best of the best together.

Tomorrow’s invite and referral-only event will bring together industry leaders in fintech and development, product leaders and API experts from Capital One, and developers eager to be part of this wave of new technology to build new customer-focused experiences.

The DevExchange Hackathon Agenda

We’re excited to welcome twenty teams of top developers, product leaders, designers, and industry experts to Capital One Labs in Arlington tomorrow for the DevExchange all-day hackathon. The event will focus around the DevExchange suite of APIs, including Rewards, Credit Offers, and banking tools.

Also in attendance will be the Amazon Alexa team. The Alexa team will be on site to teach insights with Alexa Skills and help with integration into the teams’ apps. In addition to the awards being given to the teams with the best applications, a special award will be provided for the best Alexa UX.

Recognition for the Best Applications

The goal of this event is to bring together the best of the best to produce potentially game-changing applications using these powerful APIs. Every participant will receive a general SWAG kit from Capital One DevExchange, and awards will be provided for the top finishers in each of several categories – including each API and specific judging categories.

Of those award winners the top five overall finishers will be invited to attend NEXTECH on December 2 in Mclean, VA, where they will present their entries to 450+ attendees.

Check back the end of this week and early next week when we’ll announce the winners here, as well as provide more in-depth coverage of the apps they produced.
