Go Beyond the Code with the Seattle Code Writers Workshop

How do you create an exciting, challenging, and fulfilling career as a developer?

Is it by finding the right team? By creating the most interesting project?  By investing in new skills?

Find out on October 14, when we host our second Code Writers Workshop in Seattle.  This one-day workshop will feature a diverse group of outstanding speakers.

We’ll dive into topics ranging from the nitty-gritty of how to facilitate an effective code review with your team, to hacking keyboard shortcuts to save time, to planning your next career move.  Speakers will share their insights, inspiration, and actionable ideas to help you create your best life as a developer.

A Local Focus

This event will have a particular focus on what’s happening here in Seattle.  With an ever-growing number of coding schools and a booming local tech industry, every month more developers are calling Seattle home.  The demographics of this community are rapidly changing, and the tech world is still playing catch-up to level the playing field and making the industry as inclusive as possible.  Several of our speakers will dig deep into this topic, such as techniques for onboarding nontraditional developers, how to be a great ally, and new ways to recruit diverse talent.

Collaboration with Local Partner Organizations

Modev is all about building community.  That’s why we’re so excited about the partners that will be joining us at the Code Writers Workshop, including:

The event is generously sponsored by Capital One.

A One-Day Powerhouse Event

Hosted at the Seattle Impact Hub, a beautiful coworking space in “Seattle’s original neighborhood” of Pioneer Square, we’ve curated a high-energy day of learning and making new connections.

This is what you can expect:

After checking in at 9am, the morning session will feature several tracks to choose from, each taking on a different theme for how to create a great life as a developer.  Some talks will focus on building a stellar team, others will help you jumpstart skills that complement your coding, and some will explore career mapping.

After lunch, everyone will come together at the main stage for a fast-paced series of talks exploring the big picture of where the tech scene is moving—and how to continually navigate your journey in this evolving landscape.
