Modev and Google Assistant Partner to Livestream VOICE Talks Series

Voice tech community and event organizer Modev will livestream a series exploring the voice tech industry in an arrangement with Google Assistant. The VOICE Talks Presented by Google Assistant series will premiere its first 90-minute episode in late April on YouTube Live, Facebook Live, and the series website.

Each episode of VOICE Talks will examine an aspect of how voice technology works and the way it is applied to industries such as media, healthcare, and education. The show will include interactive elements for viewers, including live polls and questions for the host and guests to answer. “Voice technology is fundamentally changing the way we interact with our devices every day to help us get things done, whether we’re at home, on the road or on our phones,” Google Assistant managing director for global product partnerships Danny Bernstein said in a statement. “With this new livestream series, we hope to reach a broader audience to highlight our efforts to advance speech technology with our community of developers and device makers.”

The livestream series is timely in part because of the COVID-19 pandemic and the corresponding isolation people are going through. An ever-growing number of conferences and events have been canceled and digital technology is offering a substitute. Modev helps arrange many major voice industry events such as the VOICE at CES and VOICE 20 but had already been planning on running the VOICE Global conference in June entirely online. The spread of the coronavirus made its expertise useful for Google Assistant in putting the livestream series together.
